Have you ever downloaded something using Firefox 3 and right afterwards, Firefox starts scanning the file for any parts / viruses?  Does it take too damn long for it to scan?  Well your in it for another Firefox tip that us Firefox gurus love to use.  This tip turns of the scanning feature after the downloads and this tip will save you some time, especially after large downloads.  Click read more to find out!

Open up your browser and type in “about:config” (without quotes)

Type in the filter “browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone” (without quotes)

Double click the entry to change it from “True” to “False”.

But now, since you turned of file scanning, just be sure that you double check on what you download, just in case it is anything malicious or anything of that sort.

Thanks for reading!

Post any suggestions / comments or questions in the comment area and I will be glad to answer.
