After it's initial release early release, big 1TB drives were expensive, upwards of $200.  But after many months of sharp price drops in platters, and hard disks, a few manufacturers got the 1TB hard drive less than $100.

I remember last year, I paid $100 for only 250GB.  You get 4x the space for the same price.  I'm sure it will keep on dropping until hard disk prices become dirt cheap.  Then the 1.5TB drives will follow suite within a few months.

You can find $100 or less 1TB drives from Samsung Spinpoint F1 from

Hard disk prices have fallen sharply along with RAM prices, especially DDR3 ram.  Early this year, 2GB DDR3 was upwards of $300-400 dollars, now, you can find it for around $50-125.
